For those that would walk the worlds, knowledge is key. Only a fool would walk to a world that of nothing was known. But someone must take the first step. Someone must be the fool.

Avram's Guide to Obsidian

Not sure what this is all about? FAQs are good!

After a very long hiatus, I've finally started the seeds of running another campaign in Obsidian. The format will be higher level and focus on the rulership of dominions. It's an ambitious project, so we'll see how it works. I've created a couple of teaser trailers to whet the appetite of my players. Enjoy!

Life moves on. NwN wasn't as easy to create with as was made out to be, so I've wholly abandoned it. Obsidian continues pen and paper and online forum adventures, but still has not found a good game outlet yet. C'est la vie.

The pages I had originally here are all in disarray. It seems my shtml files no longer are being displayed properly. I'll likely just move to a plainer HTML system, as I'm updating the pages just to display more than I'm actually adding content. The important link at this point is the forums: http://p214.ezboard.com/bobsidian. The rest can come later (likely much much later).

NwN is released, the world continues moving along. Soon I will begin online adventures on Obsidian. For now, I will throw out this little tidbit, something I hope to script so that I can update it easily:

Today is: First Tachday, Fifth Moon, 1731 AJ
(18 days to Winter Solstice)

Weather conditions for Kradich:
Cloudy, scattered showers
7 degC, 45 degF

Of course, this won't change with actual days, but will change as the different campaigns move along. Keeping them all on a single timeline may prove difficult, but for now they are all together (mostly). If it comes to it, I'll choose the most "ahead" group and cause those in the "past" to play catch up.

Not much has been happening in terms of the web page. I've continued to flesh out the world, focusing on the area of Loncliffe. Every citizen, what they do, and who their family is has been painstakingly detailed. If you want a taste of this detail, go visit the Obsidian channel on the Nexus (you can get to it via the "Forum" link to the right, assuming you are autologged into the Nexus... otherwise you'll have to log in and do a search for Obsidian).

Also, if you are wanting to play on Obsidian, especially when NwN goes live, I am slowly gathering game players. I only have a limited number of slots, so don't drag your feet if you are interested. Currently I am testing out playing styles via roleplaying forums. I have two campaigns running, Tome of the Were and Equine Raiders, with the possibility of a third or fourth if I get a lot of interest. If you are interested in Obsidian, I would encourage you to write up a brief background based on the information on this website (keep in mind that I will start building in the area of Kradich when NwN is released). Either email me your background or post a message stating your intentions to the General forums (include your email address) - don't post your background to the forums.

I've reorganized the map displays so that it is a bit more evident what each section is: World, Continent, Region, City.

3/29/2002

I've posted a new map, that of the village of Loncliffe. There are several story lines that are occurring around this village currently, so I created a map for those in those story lines to use. It shows the basic layout of the town, as well as the more obvious buildings and labeled businesses. Loncliffe itself is a very small fishing community, so the map isn't very complex.

Ok, so we can't post to the forums. Ugh... what a nightmare! Fortunately, I have forums over at the Nexus! Woot! So, I've started up some threads over there... let's start posting again, shall we? :) Oh, and if you would like to roleplay on Obsidian, I would encourage you to post to my forums on the Nexus as well. I would be happy to work you in. If you can't see the Obsidian channel on the Nexus, go to http://www.neverwinternexus.net (or follow the link under Forums), then login, then do a channel search for Obsidian. That should bring it up. You can also save your login settings so that it will remember your user name and password. Then you can just use the link on this page!

The forums are back up! Yes, after a two month hiatus, I finally was able to convince my friendly host to set the forums back up. Currently we don't have the old data (that's still coming), but at least we can post. I'll get a new OOC topic up so that everyone can reply, letting me know that they can view the forums and post to them. Then we'll get back to the roleplaying. Also, if you haven't already, check out the new Nexus! I've added Obsidian as a project there, and the link is under "Forums". You could stop by there and say hi if you like, or give me a message there if you can't view the Obsidian forums.

2/28/2002

The forum software is set up, so it is only a matter of a few days (hopefully) before the forums are up and running again. Meanwhile, you can wet your appetite on some information on Elven society (use the Alvian link).

2/26/2002

We are still without forums. I have asked my host to create some new forums, in which I can just add necessary archived information. If that isn't possible, I will reinstate the EZ Boards. I don't have all bad news, though. I've added a few more tidbits to the Perinican section. Kradich is still developing, even if the roleplay is on hold. I've added most of the major factions within the County, as well as a few more legends and rumors. Click on the Perinicus link to view these additions!

1/16/2002

Update: Due to the Nexus no longer having a host, the Obsidian forums are down indefinitely. I am working on a solution at the moment that doesn't involve returning to EZ Boards. If I have to go that route, I will, but for now I am exploring other options. Thanks for your patience, hopefully the forums will be back up quickly and everyone can continue posting.

The Forums are down temporarily. They should be up sometime next week.

I've added a new "story", called "Destiny Search". This is actually a piece of a module that I ran (hence the parentheses around story above). The entire story arc is called "King's Journey" and follows the pursuits of King T'iur as he and Lord Kaedon sail across the Southern Sea. The beginnings of this can be seen in the forums, where Kaedon greets T'iur in his court. It also is hinted at by other threads, such as the Guild of the Golden Gauntlets witness of the elven band moving across the country. The story is based off the session in which I ran "Destiny Search", and is part 1. This was basically the setup before any real action occurred, just to give an idea of how much detail is put into just setting up an adventure. :) One more thing, if you are having trouble accessing the forums, try substituting "www.neverwinternexus.net" for "www.nwnx.net". I've noticed some problems resolving the shorter version.

11/08/2001

I've added a new "Members" link. It lists the DMs, Players, and Idle members for Obsidian, as well as the character(s) they play. I've also added a few new entries to the Glossary, in case new comers are wondering who some people are.

10/15/2001

I'm looking for more activity from the RP Forums... I may have to start taking drastic measures... all those participating should have received an email from me. Go post now!!!

The forums are now back online. News is still MIA. - Ratbert #CP#

9/21/2001

Due to a recent move to a new server, the news page is down (which was also my "main" page) as well as the forums. I apologize for the inconvenience, and will work as quickly as I can to bring these services back up. I thank you for your patience.
